Sarah Gonzalez

Our Director of Religious Education, Sarah Gonzalez, is responsible for the overall development and day-to-day operation of the Children and Youth Religious Education Program. Sarah is a lifelong Unitarian Universalist and a second generation Director of Religious Education. She is a Credentialed Religious Educator, certified by the Unitarian Universalist Association as having demonstrated solid knowledge, skill, and application in the field of Religious Education. She is passionate about liberal religious education, particularly surrounding environmental justice issues, racial justice, comprehensive human sexuality education, and dynamic youth programming. Sarah received her undergraduate degree in Psychology and she has a special interest in child psychology, comparative psychology and the psychology of gender.

Sarah is married to Alan Jackoway, who also a lifelong UU. The two met at the Southeastern Unitarian Universalist Summer Institute (SUUSI) in 2003.

When not in the office, Sarah spends most of her time with her horse, Swift Impression. The two of them train and compete in the sport of eventing all over Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.¬†Swift is Sarah’s constant teacher in the arts of patience, communication, and partnership.
