Unitarian Universalist Church of Silver Spring
Becoming a Member
UUCSS belongs to each of us and depends upon each of us. There are many joys, benefits, and responsibilities to being a member of our congregation, including the harmony and grace that come from being a part of the whole in upholding the life and work of this great church.
The Pathways to Membership program
If you are considering joining our exciting and progressive congregation, our “Pathways to Membership” program is designed to provide you with a comprehensive view of our community, Unitarian Universalism and the joys and responsibilities of becoming a member.
The “Pathways to Membership” program has two classes. The first class is four-hour session usually held on a Saturday and the second class is a one-hour session held at a later date, usually on a Sunday after the second service.
In the first class we explore our roots and history, as well as discuss the principles and beliefs that underpin our participation in both this congregation and the movement as a whole. The classes are designed to help you in your personal spiritual journey as you begin to learn more about UUCSS, who we are, what we’re about, and what we offer.
The second one-hour Sunday session is time with the ministers to talk about the privileges and responsibilities of membership. Signing our membership book, which is the official act of becoming a member, will be there to sign if you’re ready.
After you have become a member, you are asked to join us at a Worship Service to recognize and
welcome you as a new member! Both classes are held several times a year so if you miss one, another one will be offered soon.
If you have any questions about the program or wish to reserve your place in the class, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you have any questions about our church or membership, feel free to contact one of our ministers or a member of the Membership Committee.
We look forward to welcoming you to one of our classes soon!
