The UUCSS LGBTQA Equality Task Force includes members of the LGBT community, and those who are allies or questioning. The task force has a social justice focus and advocates for non-descrimination, marriage equality and related LGBTQA issues at the federal, state, and county levels. The task force partners with other LGBTQA advocacy groups, and has worked with congregation members to contact their lawmakers in Annapolis and DC towards one goal: equal protection in all matters governed by civil law.
The task force educates UUCSS members about ways we can become even more welcoming allies to the LGBTQA members of UUCSS & the wider community, which include participation in events outside the church. The task force is the UUCSS liaison with the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) with respect to our church’s committment to the “Welcoming Congregation” program and other LGBTQA initiatives and programs of the UUA.
