During coffee hour in between our two Earth Day services, we served nothing but delicious vegan treats. Why? A vegan diet (also known as a plant-based diet) is the best diet for the health of our planet because it consumes less resources such as water and land. It is also the best diet for our health and can prevent chronic diseases such as cancer and heart disease. And finally, no animals are killed for this diet.
Since the 7th principle of Unitarian Universalism is respect for the interdependent web of all existence, of which we are a part, a plant-based diet makes sense for Unitarian Universalists!
If you don’t already follow a plant-based diet, here are some recipes to get you started!
