Demands of the Age – Rev. Abhi Janamanchi

We are thrilled to welcome Rev. Abhi Janamanchi, Senior Minister at Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Congregation, to the UUCSS pulpit! The sermon title is inspired by William Ellery Channing, who used it effectively in 1824 during the ordination and installation service of his junior colleague Ezra Stiles Gannett. The service will reflect on what Unitarian Universalism, especially as it is embodied at UUCSS, needs to be and needs to offer in order to respond to the demands of our age. Rev. Kristin will lead us in joys, sorrows, and prayer and Rev. Abhi will preach the sermon.

Rev. Abhi Janamanchi currently serves as senior minister of Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Bethesda. Before being called to Cedar Lane in August 2013, Abhi served congregations in Clearwater, Florida, Madison, Wisconsin, and Park Forest, Illinois. Abhi has been actively involved in international interfaith and multicultural work for over three decades. His Unitarian Universalist-Hindu faith, his Indian heritage, and his American citizenship inspire and guide him in his life and ministry.
